About Bush Craft and Our Courses
Whether you’re an aspiring Ray Mears or just looking for the skills to keep you alive in an emergency we can provide the Coastal Survival Skills course. All our courses are taught by experienced instructors who have utilised survival techniques on many occasions. Our courses will teach you some key winter and summer survival techniques from building emergency shelters, camp craft to safe fire construction.
Coastal Survival SkillsEither a day or a full weekend, which includes an overnight stay in an improvised shelter, can be run as a hands-on teaching session or as a supervised and guided team challenge. The choice is yours, although most groups elect to run it as a mixture of the two. The sessions can take place in a variety of locations including the beautiful Lleyn peninsula in North Wales, Pembrokeshire in South Wales or on Dorset’s Jurassic coast, although a variety of other locations are available on request.
Dependant on the group’s wishes, and the location used, various methods of foraging for and catching food will be shown. How to collect safe drinking water will also be demonstrated along with shelter building and survival cooking techniques. If desired it can be run in a more relaxed way, cooking with pots and pans for instance! Even run at its strictest some nice surprises like lobster, spider crab, sea bass and sea bream are often on the menu (but don’t blame me if we end up with mussels, mackerel, winkles and sea weed!). The unpredictability of what you will be eating is all part of the fun! Prices for the weekend start from £85 per person for a group of 5-10, or £95 per person if less than 5 are booked onto the course (the minimum group size is 3). One day sessions cost £55 per person, also with a minimum group size of 3. Just contact me if you want a session personalised to suit your needs. |
